Accessibility

Our garden is situated on a hill. Following an access audit conducted by Glasgow Access Panel, we have been working on making adjustments  to improve access.

Entry to the Garden

Members use a key pad to enter the garden located on the entry gates. We have lowered the keypads on both gates. On Open Days, both gates are open.

Inside the Garden

We have improved access inside the garden at the top gate (nearest Rottenrow) by the addition of concrete paving slabs.

We have installed a tarmac  ramp  on the internal pavement at the main gate.

Running through the garden, there  is a wide tarmac path. It gives access to the three accessible raised beds. Between the raised beds there are loose gravel paths.

Toilets
There are no toilet facilities.  St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art is close to the garden. It has an accessible toilet. Its opening hours are 10am-5pm, except Fridays and Sundays when it opens at 11am.

Parking

On street parking is available in Rottenrow at The Barony.

Biophilia is the term coined by the Harvard naturalist Dr. Edward O. Wilson to describe what he saw as humanity's "innate tendency to focus on life and lifelike processes," and to be drawn toward nature, to feel an affinity for it, a love, a craving.— Natalie Angier

Do human beings have within them an innate sense of connection to other forms of life? If so, can this natural feeling, this "biophilia," both enhance our respect for ourselves as human and reinforce our sense of obligation to treat other forms of life with loving care?— T. H. Watkins
